Ideaful

AI idea generator

Generate ideas, then find the one worth building

Type a word, a problem or a half-formed plan and Ideaful generates a burst of ideas around it: some close to what you meant, some strange. Every idea is a starting point. Click one to branch it further, or push two together and see what they turn into. It works for startup ideas, story ideas, video and content ideas, project and product ideas.

Try it free. Your first spark needs no account and no card.

What it can look like

Type “a mystery set in a lighthouse” and the ideas around it can look something like this. (An example, written to show the idea, not a recording.)

a mystery set in a lighthouse

Close to what you meant

  • A keeper who logs a ship that never arrives
  • The relief boat is a day late
  • A visitor who already knows the keeper's name

From somewhere else

  • Told entirely as logbook entries
  • The tide tables as the plot's clock
  • A locked-room puzzle where the room moves

How you'd use it

Idea generators are easy to find, and most of them hand you a list and leave you with it. Ideaful stays with you after the list. It lets critics attack an idea, checks who's already doing it, and turns the one that holds up into a one-page brief, so you finish with a choice and not a pile.

  1. Type what you're after

A topic, a constraint, a feeling. “A gift for a friend who has everything” works as well as a polished brief.

  2. Generate, then follow what sparks

You get close ideas and far-out ones, each with a one-line reason on hover. Branch the ones that catch you, and let the others fade. Press Merge to cross two of them.

  3. Pick one, and test it

Run a Review to hear what would sink it, use Research to see what already exists, and write the winner up as a one-page brief.

Questions

What kinds of ideas can it generate?

Anything you can describe in a few words: startup and product ideas, story and plot ideas, video and content ideas, project ideas, gifts, names, angles for an essay. The more specific your thought, the more specific the branches.

Are the ideas original?

They're generated by an AI model, so treat them as starting points, not finished concepts. That's why Ideaful also has Research, which checks the web for who's already doing something, and Review, where critics look for the weak spots.

How is this different from a random idea generator?

A random generator combines words without knowing what you want. Ideaful reads your thought, works out what you're probably after, and aims every idea at that. If it reads you wrong, you can correct it and it branches again from your correction.

Can it come up with business ideas?

Yes, and it's built to go further than the list: it can check who's already doing an idea and write a one-page brief with a cheap first test. See the page for founders for how that works.

How much does it cost?

Your first spark each day is free without an account, and a new account starts with free credits. After that a spark costs one credit, and the plans start at a few euros a month.

Can I try it before signing up?

Yes. Type a thought in the box at the top of this page and you get a free spark, with no account and no card. Make an account when you want to keep going, and you get free starter credits to begin with.
