Ideaful

For Obsidian users

Brainstorm with your own notes

Most AI brainstorming starts from zero and gives you generic answers. Ideaful can start from you. Point it at your Obsidian vault and it picks up the themes you keep returning to, the notes your thinking hangs on, and what you've already written about the thought in front of you.

Try it free. Your first spark needs no account and no card.

What it can look like

Type “urban beekeeping” and the ideas around it can look something like this. (An example, written to show the idea, not a recording.)

urban beekeeping

Close to what you meant

  • A forage-gap map for city hivesbuilds on your note “Forage gaps”
  • A rooftop host programme

From somewhere else

  • Bees as air sensors
  • Pollinator corridors as a city servicebuilds on your note “Urban ecology”

How you'd use it

Ideas then build on your notes and say which note they connect to. Your vault is read in your browser and never uploaded or written to. Only a short summary and a few matching excerpts travel with each spark.

  1. Connect your vault once

Pick your vault's folder. It's read in your browser, nothing is uploaded and nothing is written. You can disconnect any time.

  2. Spark a thought

Ideas that connect to something you've written say so, naming the note in quotes. The far ideas still leap well outside your own map, which is what your vault can't give you.

  3. Merge, review and brief

From there it's the usual: merge two ideas, let the critics push back, check who's already doing it, and end with a one-page brief you can save as a note.

Questions

Is my vault uploaded?

No. It's read in your browser. With each spark only a short summary of your themes and a few matching excerpts are sent, so the ideas can build on your notes, and Ideaful never writes to your vault.

Which browsers work?

Chrome and Edge can remember your vault's folder. Other browsers can still read it through a folder upload that stays on your device.

Do I need a plugin?

No. There's nothing to install in Obsidian: Ideaful reads the folder of Markdown files your vault already is.
